England shattered multiple records and created history as they pummelled the South African bowlers in the second T20I of the three-match series in Manchester. The home team bounced back and registered a big 146-run win to level the series. Courtesy of Phil Salt's unbeaten 142, the two-time T20 World Cup winners registered a big total of 304 on the board. SA were never in contention to chase the target and were bowled out for 158.
England create history
England created history and became the first full-member nation to breach the 300-run mark against another full-member nation. The record was previously held by India, who scored 297 against Bangladesh in 2024.
The record for the highest T20I score belongs to Zimbabwe, who scored 344. But they did it against Gambia, who aren't a full member nation. In September 2023, Nepal became the first team to breach the 300-run mark. They scored 314 against Mongolia. Both are ICC's associate nations.
More than 20 years after the first-ever T20I, played between Australia and New Zealand, England did the unthinkable. The Harry Brook-led side needed 9 overs to score 150. They went past the 200-run mark in just 12.1 overs. 4.1 overs later, they brought up their 250.
